Mama: Music

At The Waterside

(Mama)
Zoë Pollock (PRS) & Sarah McQuaid (IMRO)
Sarah’s mum was born in Chicago and lived in various parts of Europe before moving back to the States for a time and finally to Cornwall, where she died in 2004. Sarah was born in Spain, raised in various US cities, spent thirteen years in Ireland and now lives in what was once her mum’s home. Zoë has done her fair share of wandering, too.

Zoë: uke
Sarah: vocal
Ambient noise (including bells and chimes from Sarah’s verandah) recorded by Martin Stansbury
I hear the water dancing
In the stream that flows at my feet
In the shadows, in the sunlight
I am healed and I am at peace

There are words and there are echoes
There are voices whispering
At the waterside

I have lived and I have travelled
Far from the country I came from
In the shelter of this garden
I have found a place to call home

There are words and there are echoes
There are voices whispering
At the waterside

And when the light is fading
And evening is starting to fall
I will stay here and take my refuge
From the world’s insistent call

I hear the water dancing
In the stream that flows at my feet
In the shadows, in the sunlight
I am healed and I am at peace

There are words and there are echoes
There are voices whispering
At the waterside
